York9 FC Signs Canadian Midfielder Cédric Toussaint

Toronto, ON (November 11, 2020) – York9 FC is delighted to announce the signing of Canadian midfielder Cédric Toussaint on a two-year contract with further club options.

The 19-year-old – born in Drummondville, QC – arrives from the Montreal Impact Academy, where he’s been since 2013. A highly-regarded prospect, Toussaint – who can operate in both a deep and advanced role in the middle of the park – has already been called into underage National Identification Camps and regularly trained with the senior Impact side.

A strong, purposeful and intelligent player with a keen eye for a defence-splitting pass and the odd spectacular goal, Toussaint is yet another gifted young Canadian player signing with York9 during the off-season and follows Ryan Lindsay and both Felix and Chrisnovic N’sa to the club.

“I’m really excited to join York9 FC”, Toussaint says.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to play at a big club like this, especially at the beginning of my career. I’d like to thank the Montreal Impact Academy and all of my coaches there, with a special word of appreciation extended to Philippe Eullaffroy. But now I’m looking forward to meeting all my team-mates and coaches and getting started on what will be a great season”.

Toussaint’s comfort with and ability on the ball was particularly eye-catching for York9’s Managing Consultant, Angus McNab.

“Cédric is another really talented player from Quebec that joins our squad and I’m very happy he’s shown such trust in us regarding his footballing future,” he says.

“He’s comfortable playing as a 6 or an 8 and has a great passing range, something that Canada Soccer’s underage coaches have also been impressed with and why they continue to monitor him”.
