York United FC Academy continues to strengthen its squad with the addition of Teshawn Taylor, a fullback who earned his place through the club’s open tryouts. During the sessions, he impressed the York United scouting staff with his ability and determination, ultimately securing a League1 contract.
Now, he takes the next step in his development, ready to embrace the demands of a professional environment.
“My favorite thing about being part of York United FC is the competitive atmosphere,” says Teshawn. “Every player is pushing for a chance with the first team, which means you have to bring your best every single day.”
An aggressive and quick fullback, Teshawn thrives on one-on-one battles, covering ground efficiently and contributing on both ends of the pitch. His ability to read the game, make key tackles, and provide width going forward makes him a valuable asset to the squad.
“My aggression allows me to compete fearlessly, my speed helps me recover defensively, and my defensive strength ensures I can handle tough matchups,” he explains.
His path to this point has not been without challenges. From early setbacks to overcoming self-doubt, Teshawn has developed a strong mentality that keeps him focused on continuous improvement.
“There were times when things didn’t go my way, but I had to stay mentally strong and keep pushing forward,” he reflects. “Those experiences have helped me grow both on and off the pitch.”
Now, with his sights set on the season ahead, he is determined to maximize this opportunity.
“Being part of York United Academy is a key step toward my goal of becoming a professional footballer,” he says. “The training, coaching, and overall experience here are preparing me for the next level.”
With his drive, work ethic, and willingness to compete, Teshawn Taylor is ready to make an impact as York United FC Academy gears up for its first League1 Ontario Championship Division season.
