York United FC Academy is thrilled to welcome Lucas Vidrascu, a key addition as the club prepares for its inaugural season in the League1 Ontario Championship Division.
After being closely monitored by York United’s scouting staff, Lucas was offered a development contract, leading him to relocate from Montreal to join the Academy. His journey has taken him through CSMRO and CS Saint-Hubert, where he refined his skills before stepping into a professional training environment.
Now, he takes the next step in his career, embracing the challenge of competing at a higher level.
“This is a great opportunity and brings me one step closer to professional football,” says Lucas. “It’s an important stage in my development.”
A composed and intelligent centre-back, Lucas offers strong passing ability, physicality, and confidence on the ball. Having transitioned from midfield and winger to a defensive role, he brings a unique perspective to the position, allowing him to anticipate plays and contribute effectively in build-up play.
“Switching positions felt natural,” he explains. “My time as a midfielder and winger gave me a solid understanding of movement, positioning, and reading the game. Now, as a centre-back, I have a wider view of the pitch and can anticipate plays better.”
Now settling into life at York United FC Academy, Lucas remains focused on his growth.
“Individually, I want to have a strong season and improve in every area—tactically, technically, and physically. My main goal is to keep developing and refining my skills as a centre-back,” he says.
With his skill set, determination, and hunger to grow, Lucas Vidrascu is set to be an important piece in York United FC Academy’s journey as the team gears up for an exciting season ahead.
