Nicholas Hamilton Joins Dundee on Loan

Toronto, ON (September 28, 2020) – York9 FC can confirm that Nicholas Hamilton has completed his loan move to the Scottish Championship side Dundee.

The Jamaican attacker joined the Nine Stripes on a multi-year deal back in February but was unable to participate in The Island Games because a delay in securing his work permit meant he would not have made it into Canada in time to quarantine before the tournament started.

In order to get some game time ahead of the 2021 Canadian Premier League season, he will now join the Dees until the end of June 2021, returning to Canada in July.

The 24-year-old, who can play as a central striker or winger, will join a Dundee squad that is looking to build on last season’s third-place finish and last week signed former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam.

Managing consultant Angus McNab said: “We are delighted to have secured this loan for Nicholas. After the pandemic prevented him from being part of our squad for The Island Games, it was critical we found a way to continue his development.

“I felt that a loan until the end of the Scottish season was much better with the long term in mind and Dundee has been fantastic to partner with. James [McPake, Dundee manager] has very similar thoughts to our staff on Nicholas’ best position, so the loan made complete sense for all parties.

“Plus, my Dad still lives in Dundee and he’s a season ticket member, so he’ll be keeping a keen eye on things for me.

“We’re excited for what this loan move represents and are in conversations with clubs that may see other players get similar opportunities as we focus our time now on ensuring we’re in the best possible place as a club for what we hope will be a more prosperous 2021.”
